Upper Primary Programmes


P6 PSLE Intensive Prep

Date: 4 – 8 June & 11 – 15 June 2012 (Mondays to Fridays)
Time: 9.30 – 11.30 am or 1.00 – 3.00 pm

This programme aims to help pupils prepare for the PSLE English Language Paper. They will be focusing on grammar rules, including Synthesis and Transformation and Graphic Stimulus comprehension.

P5 Mastering the Essentials of Narrative Writing

Date: 4 – 8 June 2012 (Monday to Friday)
Time: 1.00 – 3.00 pm

This programme focuses on key areas such as brainstorming story ideas and developing them into interesting, coherent narratives.

Pupils will be taught how to enliven their writing with specific nounsvibrant verbs,  and interesting adjectives and adverbs.

They will be introduced to a range of descriptive phrases and model compositions to enhance their learning.

P5 Improving Grammar & Cloze Skills

Date: 11 – 15 June 2012 (Monday to Friday)
Time: 4.00 – 6.00 pm

Is your child losing marks on exams due to poor grammar skills? This programme zeroes in on grammar essentials (e.g. parts of speech, subject-verb agreement, tenses).

It will also teach pupils strategies (e.g. context clues, parts of speech) for tackling the Cloze passage as tested in the PSLE English Language Paper 2.

Pupils will develop their writing as they study important story elements (e.g. setting, plot, characterisation). They will focus on story structure and idea/vocabulary development to help them pen more creative stories.

Helping words & phrases, sample story starters and story endings and model compositions will also be provided.

Lower Primary Programmes

P1/P2 Speak Up & Act Out!

Date: 11 – 15 June 2012 (Monday to Friday)
Time: 4.00 – 5.30 pm

This programme teaches pupils the basics of  proper posture, facial expressions, pronunciation, voice projection and vocal expression.

Pupils will also take part in group interactive activities which enhance their enjoyment of the English language. They will be given ample  opportunity to practise what they have learnt.

At the end of the programme, a mini-performance will be staged for all to enjoy!
